Guernica is a large oil painting on canvas by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso in 1937. It is one of his greatest-known works, considered by many art critics as the most moving and powerful anti-war painting in history. It is exhibited in the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid.
The white, black, and grey painting, which is 11 ft 5 in tall and 25 ft 6 in wide, portrays the suffering wrought by brutality and chaos. Prominent in the composition are a gored horse, a bull, screaming women, a dead child, a dismembered soldier, and fire.
Picasso painted Guernica at his home in Paris, the bombing of Guernica, a Basque Country town in northern Spain which was bombed by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy at the request of the Spanish Nationalists. Upon finishing, Guernica was exhibited at the Spanish display at the 1937 Paris International Exposition, and then at other venues around the world. The touring exhibition was used to gather funds for Spanish war relief. The painting soon became very popular and widely acclaimed, and it helped bring worldwide attention to the Spanish Civil War.

Reproduction of oil painting is very expensive and a time taking process. The completed painting requires at least a week for drying completely. After that, we apply two layers of protective coating to secure the painting from dust and mold. Only completely dried painting can apply a coating or the painting will be damaged. The process of painting may take more than 4 weeks to 6 weeks based on the size and complexity.
For stretching, We will add a 1.6" additional white canvas border on all four sides for stretching purposes. We do not provide stretched canvas due to several issues. We cannot take the risk of damage while shipping. Also, there are size limitations for sending framed canvas. Shipping a large-sized stretched canvas might cost more than a painting itself. So we suggest you find a nearby local shop for the framing process.
