The Venetian artist Giovanni Bellini used the famous subject of the Virgin and Child for artistic and technical experimentation, and his development can be found by studying the changes in composition from the Madonnas early in his career. This picture dates from a time during which he took into account sculptures of the subject by the Florentine artist Donatello and his followers, which had a huge impact on the Veneto. Unlike the sculptor, Bellini was able to create a setting. Here he placed, against the originally cloudy sky, the Virgin Mary behind a parapet on which the child stands next to a pear, an emblem of the babe’s future sacrifice. This painting was started at a time when Bellini began to investigate the possibility of the translucency of the oil medium, rarely used in Italy before.

After that, we apply two layers of protective coating to secure the painting from dust and mold. Only completely dried painting can apply a coating or the painting will be damaged. The process of painting may take more than 4 weeks to 6 weeks based on the size and complexity.

For stretching, We will add a 1.6" additional white canvas border on all four sides for stretching purposes. We do not provide stretched canvas due to several issues. We cannot take the risk of damage while shipping. Also, there are size limitations for sending framed canvas. Shipping a large-sized stretched canvas might cost more than a painting itself. So we suggest you find a nearby local shop for the framing process.

After showing the final result to the customer for approval and after painting dried and ready for shopping. we will send you the painting in a fine hard plastic tube. You will receive a courier tracking number by e-mail.
