The Massacre of the Innocents is the subject of two paintings by Peter Paul Rubens depicting the episode of the biblical Massacre of the Innocents of Bethlehem, as related in the Gospel of Matthew. The painting shows the incident in the nativity narrative of the Gospel of Matthew in which Herod the Great, king of Judea, orders the execution of all male children two years old and under in the vicinity of Bethlehem. The Catholic Church regards them as the first Christian martyrs, and their feast – Holy Innocents' Day is celebrated on 28 December. A majority of Herod biographers, and "probably a majority of biblical scholars," hold the event to be myth, legend or folklore.

After that, we apply two layers of protective coating to secure the painting from dust and mold. Only completely dried painting can apply a coating or the painting will be damaged. The process of painting may take more than 4 weeks to 6 weeks based on the size and complexity.

For stretching, We will add a 1.6" additional white canvas border on all four sides for stretching purposes. We do not provide stretched canvas due to several issues. We cannot take the risk of damage while shipping. Also, there are size limitations for sending framed canvas. Shipping a large-sized stretched canvas might cost more than a painting itself. So we suggest you find a nearby local shop for the framing process.

After showing the final result to the customer for approval and after painting dried and ready for shopping. we will send you the painting in a fine hard plastic tube. You will receive a courier tracking number by e-mail.
