The painting is a tronie, the Dutch 17th-century description of a 'head' that was not meant to be a portrait. It describes a European girl wearing a foreign cloth, an oriental turban, The ground is thick and yellowish in color and is a mixture of chalk, lead white, ochre and very little black. The dark background of the painting contains bone black, weld, chalk, small amounts of red ochre, and indigo. The face and cloth were painted mainly using ochres, natural ultramarine, bone black, charcoal black, and lead white.

The work is oil on canvas and is 44.5 cm (17.5 in) high and 39 cm (15 in) wide. It is signed "IVMeer" but not dated. It is probably painted around 1665.

For stretching, We will add a 1.6" additional white canvas border on all four sides for stretching purposes. We do not provide stretched canvas due to several issues. We cannot take the risk of damage while shipping. Also, there are size limitations for sending framed canvas. Shipping a large-sized stretched canvas might cost more than a painting itself. So we suggest you find a nearby local shop for the framing process.

After showing the final result to the customer for approval and after painting dried and ready for shopping. we will send you the painting in a fine hard plastic tube. You will receive a courier tracking number by e-mail.
